(1999) Book ~ Roald Dahl chapters.indigo Review Your average giant has no compunction about devouring little children. The Bonecruncher, Fleshlumpeater and Bloodbottler, for instance, all have predilections for chewing on chiddlers. But fortunately for young Sophie, the giant who captures her has no such inclinations; he is the Big Friendly Giant, an aberration among his kind. And when the gentle giant and his new best friend find out that his bloodthirsty brethren are off to guzzle down as many children as they can find, Sophie knows that she can rely on the BFG to help her prevent disaster. Roald Dahl employs his customary visceral humour and wicked sense of adventure in The BFG , a Puffin Classics title illustrated with appropriate zaniness by Quentin Blake . The BFG Reviewer: Scott from Chatam,Quebec (rust@aiservice.com) Date: 9/30/2000 11:23:23 AM I find this is a REALLY good book.My teacher picks books for our class to read and all are class agreed on the BFG.When we finished the book we all loved it.We told are teacher that we were going to tell all are friend about this book.I'm telling you now you will love this book.I recomend this book highly.I would give this book A 100 000 000 000 STARS.If you've read this book read Charlie And The Chocolate Factory,Goerge's Marvalous Medicine,or any other Roald Dohl books. 2. the friendliest giant Reviewer: max sadlowski from cornwall, ontario Date: 9/4/2000 12:58:36 PM When I was 7 years old my mother read this to me and I loved it. I dicided to read it myself and I did. I loved it so because of the imagination and caracters that put the whole story together. When Sopie was kidnapped by this giant it was scary but when I found out he was a friendly giant I cried with joy. This was also one of the first books I had read that made me laugh. The best part of this book is when the giant goes to visit the queen and eats with a pitchfork and sword. I would definetly recomend this book to friends and family. 3. Want to Read? Chapters Inc. was formed following the merger of Coles and SmithBooks, then Canada’s two largest bookstore chains. In 1994, Canadian General Capital and Pathfinder Capital purchased SmithBooks from Federal Industries, and later that year acquired Coles from Southam Inc. The strategy was to build a strong base company and use its financial strength to invest in the development of large format book superstores.
In April 1995, the merger of SmithBooks and Coles was finalized, and in November 1995, the new company, Chapters Inc. opened its first two book superstores and from there grew to become the largest book retailer in Canada, operating bookstores in all provinces, under the names Chapters, Coles, SmithBooks, and World's Biggest Bookstore.
